Villa in Chrani, Messinia, PeloponneseWe can make it a straight forward process

It is very easy to purchase land or property in Greece if you are a resident of European Union. All you need is a tax number (we will help you with this) and the names of both your parents.

When you decide on your purchase we first go to a Public Notary where a contract is drawn up and the land and/or property is registered in your name. Your Dream in Greece will arrange a tried and tested lawyer for you or you can engage one yourself.

The architect will then draw plans to your requirements and request building permission. When you and the planning authorities have approved plans, we will start the build or renovation project and see it through to handing you the keys to your new home.

As it may not always be possible for you to be present at each stage we will update you with regular emails ,phone calls and photos. We will keep the photo diary for you and will give you a copy of on completion. We can help you plan your visits and find you accommodation and make car hire arrangements.

Electricity

Mains electricity is supplied by the publicly owned company 'DEH'. Connection is possible in almost all areas. Application for connection to the mains supply will usually be arranged as part of the build contract. The cost of connection to a new property will depend upon the proximity of an existing supply locally. The cost of electricity is cheaper than in the UK.
Electricity bills are issued every two months. In Greece electricity bills also include payments to the local authority for services such as refuse collection and street lighting - equivalent in the UK to 'Council Tax’. Also included in the bills are TV license costs. Both these costs are cheaper than in the UK.

Alternatives to Mains Supply Electricity

With so many days of sunshine Greece is the ideal place to harness solar energy. It is possible to install a system to produce some or all of the electricity requirements for a property. Although the initial installation costs of such a system will be higher than a conventional system electricity bills will be either nonexistent or significantly reduced! Wind power could also be used in conjunction with solar power to supply some or all of your energy needs. We can put you in contact with suppliers of the equipment necessary for solar and wind powered electricity systems. In any case it is highly recommended that a solar powered water heating system be installed with either a new build or renovation project. Such systems are not expensive and are widely available in the area.

Water

Mains water is available in most towns and villages and is usually metered. Application for connection to the mains supply will usually be arranged as part of the build contract. Water bills are issued by the local authority and payable at the 'town hall' offices. Water is not expensive but rain water capture and water tanks help ensure an uninterrupted supply and are a "green" thing to do.
