The scenery travelling through the mountains to Mystras is stunning. The first images below show how the site dominates the fertile plain of Sparta below. This region of the Mani is renowned for trekking. Visitors should be aware that the site is steeply sloping and on a hot day, the climb can be quite demanding so - start at the top!
